In the next few months we will have more units from Nevada deploying, I need more volunteers to step up and join our team:) This past years was exciting and sad as well. We lost three of our Nevada National Guard soldiers in the IHOP shooting in Carson City, NV and two other were wounded but recovering.
We shipped over 2600 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies, shipped over $4,000 of gift cards to our deployed soldiers, provided 50 full family dinners (6-8 people) with a large donation from a Nevada family to soldiers for Thanksgiving, provided $4200.00 worth of American Express Gift Cards from two donors for our veteran families who needed help for Christmas and lots more.
American Legion Post 56 of Carson City sponsored a batallion Christmas party hospitality suite, GE Corp in Gardnerville donated two television sets as gifts, Grand Sierra Resort donated audio visual equipment to skype with our unit in Afghanistan and they also donated lots more.
Lions of Carson City donated Sees Chocolates and Post 56 donated fruit and nut gift bags for our veterans at home.
Our big unit the 422nd is home from one year in Afghanstan...Hooah and glad to have them all back safe.
As we go into 2012 I look forward to supporting all of our military deployed and their families....please join me...
Happy New Year

Today, 12 Girl Scouts from the Sierra Nevada Girl Scout Council packed the 2900 boxes of Girl Scout cookies that they sold for the troops. This is an amazing grouo who have done this for the past four years...This year we have fallen short of our requirement to ship these boxes to Afghanistan.
If you would like to help with a donation, please go to my "Join the Team" and send me a message..I will give you instructions on how to write the check and where to mail it. We have $1468.00 but need about $1900 to ship all of the cookies we have at this time.
Cookies are going to our Nevada National Guard and a few other small units....your help would be greatly appreciated.

On October 23, 2010 we honored our fallen heroes and their Gold Star Families at the Salute to our Nevada Military event at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. LTC Daniel Waters of the Nevada Army National Guard called the names as Marco Manor, American Legion High Desert Post 56 rang a bell after each name. The Scottish American Military Society Honor Guard presented colors and Mike Connell played the bagpipe tribute to the families.
It was a very beautiful and meaningful event...please remember all of our men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice...God Bless our Gold Star Families
